Pllek

Pllek is one of our favorite places to go when the weather is nice. We’ve spent many a sunny day sitting on their beach chairs and looking out across the IJ with a cold beer in hand. However, Pllek is also the perfect spot when it gets cold and dark. Sit on their leather sofas by the fire, enjoy a nice glass of wine and look out at the twinkling lights across the water. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Pllek also serves yummy meals and has a DJ or sometimes live music. Love it!

Hans en Grietje

A typical brown cafe located in one of the loveliest parts of the city, Cafe Hans en Grietje welcomes you with a cozy interior and typical Dutch fare. Have a cold beer and sit by the warm fire. Perhaps order some bitterballen. Try not to imagine you are Hansel and Gretel captured by a witch and locked in her house to fatten you up before eating you!

Hannekes Boom

Another popular spot when the weather is lovely is Hannekes Boom. People love to kick back at their picnic tables and soak up the sunshine. But did you know Hannekes Boom also has a lovely large fireplace that you can gather around when the weather is blustery? Go for drinks, snacks or dinner and relax in this ramshackle shack on the water.

De Vergulden Eenhoorn

The gardens at Vergulden Eenhoorn are the perfect place to sit in the summer, but when autumn and winter arrive move inside to the cozy interior complete with a wood burning stove. Go for lunch, dinner or just a drink to this lovely spot in Amsterdam Oost.

Cafe Kostverloren

A favorite spot to meet up with friends for a casual borrel or dinner, Cafe Kostverloren has a spacious terrace for the sunny days and a fireplace for the cloudy ones! We think their burgers are some of the best in town! Drop by or make a reservation in advance to insure a seat near the flames. Bonus: they show nearly all of the Ajax football matches here, so if you’re a fan this is your place!

The Lobby at Hotel V

The clubby atmosphere at The Lobby would not be complete without a fireplace. Go for a coffee on a cold day or perhaps enjoy a cocktail or whisky on a chilly night. Sit on the leather sofas and chat with your friends while you warm up. And guess what, this is a two-fer! There are now two locations of The Lobby, centrum and oost, and both have fireplaces!

The Lobby serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Reservations are recommended for the evenings.

W Hotel Bar

When you think of a bar with a fireplace you might imagine a cozy little den with comfy old furnishings and steamy windowpanes. Well, you won’t find this scene at the W Hotel but you will be able to enjoy two raging fireplaces with amazing views over the city’s rooftops.

Cafe Zurich

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, borrel and a fireplace! Check out Cafe Zurich on the Mercatorplein any time of day. Take a seat on their circular leather benches around the fire for a cozy meet up over some food and drinks.

Lion Noir

Lion Noir is a hidden gem in the heart of Amsterdam. Go for a few cocktails or a glass of wine by their inviting open fire before or after dining upstairs in the restaurant. The atmosphere here is elegant yet curious, with leather chairs, sumptuous colors and a variety of taxidermy creatures peering at you from every angle.

Park Cafe Restaurant

A bright open space that is lovely in summer or winter, Park Cafe Restaurant overlooks Oosterpark and is part of Hotel Arena. The decor here is really attractive with lots of plants and cheerful colors. There is an inviting self-standing fireplace surrounded by comfy furniture where you can sit with a beverage and snacks.

Westgasterras

Another great place to go when the weather is naughty or nice is the Westergasterras. In the summer, sit on their huge terrace with your friends and plenty of beers. Put on your dancing shoes and take part in their salsa nights. And in the wintertime, head inside and sit by the fire. We love the industrial open space and the decor here. This January and February they are hosting monthly roasts on Thursdays too.

5&33

This bar and Italian-influenced restaurant has amazing food, fabulous cocktails and… a fireplace! 5&33 is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks seven days a week. Make a reservation in advance for a special date or stop in after wandering in the city center to warm your cold fingers, toes and nose by the fire. There are often special events and art exhibitions at 5&33. Check their Facebook for the latest information.

Pacific Parc

Looking for a place where you can have dinner, sit around a fireplace with a few drinks, and then dance late into the night? Then head to Pacific Parc. This spacious cafe in Westerpark welcomes you to sit on their terrace in the sun or be cozy by the fire in the winter. There is often something on at Pacific Parc and on the weekends it’s always a great, laid back place to drink and dance. When in the area we also suggest going for a glass of wine at Wester Wijnfabriek or a beer at Brouwerij Troost too.

In the winter you can even go for a bit of ice skating as well.

This cute wine bar in Westerpark sometimes lights a nice cozy fire outside to welcome customers. Take a glass of red and stand by the flames to keep warm. The smell of wood smoke rising into the cool air is the perfect way to enjoy winter.
