SAIL Amsterdam 2015 Sail out tall ships

In addition to the SAIL official programming, we want to give you some tips for places to eat, drink, dance, party and sleep close to the SAIL route. An amazing nautical festival not to be missed, SAIL Amsterdam only comes around once every five years. SAIL Amsterdam 2015 takes place from Wednesday August 19th to Sunday August 23rd. SAIL AMSTERDAM 2015 ••• Bars, Restaurants, Cafes & Clubs near SAIL

Many of our favorite bars, restaurants and cafes are located close to the SAIL routes along the IJ. Some of them even have amazing views of the activities. Here are some tips for places to eat drink and enjoy near the water.

Start SAIL off right with an early morning Supperclub Cruise boat ride along with the parade of Tall Ships entering the IJ. Begin with breakfast in bed and then enjoy DJs, drinks and entertainment while checking out the amazing boats up close.

In Amsterdam Noord near the IJ:

  • Pllek: a chill spot on the IJ for lunch, drinks or dinner
  • Noorderlicht: mellow hangout with casual food and drink
  • Pontstation: yummy snackbar where everything is organic
  • THT: small plates to share with a great view
  • Bistro Noord: restaurant next to the Brooklyn Hotel at NDSM
  • EYE Cafe: huge terrace overlooking the IJ
  • al Ponte Caffè Italiano: excellent coffee and yummy sandwiches
  • il Pecorino: the best pizza in Noord with a water view
  • Stork: seafood restaurant with a great view of the Tall Ships
  • Oedipus Brewery: Amsterdam’s coolest brewery and taproom

On the west side in Amsterdam near the IJ

  • DOK: laid back city beach with casual vibe
  • Nevel: lovely restaurant with large terrace and amazing water views
  • Wolf: highly-rated food in a refurbished rotating bridge
  • Restaurant Mos: new restaurant near the IJ
  • Bak: delicious seasonal menu and amazing views

  • La Tete: casual cafe by the water’s edge
  • REM Eiland: dine in a refurbished pirate TV tower

On the east side in Amsterdam near the IJ and Java-eiland:

  • Choux: delicious seasonal dishes and natural wines, plus they are having a BBQ party on Friday!
  • Hannekes Boom: cool cafe and hangout near Central Station
  • Barco: drink, dine and chill out on an old boat
  • Fifteen: Jamie Oliver’s signature restaurant
  • MOES: local, sustainable and seasonal dishes
  • L’Invite has an amazing popup restaurant and bar on the Jan Schaeferbrug during SAIL
  • Delirium: beer cafe along the water with hundreds of choices

  • Gebr. Hartering: charming restaurant with special food in a beautiful location
  • Mercat: a gorgeous location with tasty Spanish food and drinks
  • Odessa: eat wood oven pizza and pasta on a boat

  • Panama: music venue and night club near the waterside

SAIL closes on Sunday August 23rd, enjoy the views on the north side. The EYE will project boating and ship film clips onto the A’DAM Tower accompanied by music. Sit back and enjoy from 17:00 to 23:00.
