Stop into this cute shop for an expertly brewed coffee as well as sandwiches and pastries. Coffee Bru also serves and sells their own brand of tea called Monkey Chief. Sit in the bright back room by the wall of green plants, or grab a seat outside if the weather is nice.

Rum Baba

Tasty treats tempt from the counter and the smell of baking fills the air. Order an expertly crafted coffee or one of their special teas and relax at one of the many wooden tables. The bright space and friendly staff are sure to improve your day. There is also plenty of seating outside if you feel like getting some sunshine. But don’t miss the cool wall art by Tom Kraanen.

They call themselves an American coffee bar, and Bedford Stuyvesant is a little slice of cool Brooklyn style in Amsterdam Oost. In addition to perfectly crafted coffee drinks, Bed-Stuy makes fresh juices and smoothies, and has light breakfast options like toast with jam and yogurt with muesli.

A bar named after a notorious literary alcoholic may not seem like a great place for a coffee, but it is! Bukowski also has tasty food, good beer and next door at Harry’s Bar they have cocktails! What’s not to love?

Not an espresso bar, Stooker is worth a mention here just in case you’d like to buy some beans and make your coffee at home. This new roastery in town sells freshly roasted beans and coffee brewing equipment as well as offering trainings and tastings in their minimalist cool space.

Filter Amsterdam

Filter is a cute and cheerful coffee shop on Valkenburgerstraat in the lobby of the green hotel/hostel Ecomama. Located on the East side of the center, they just squeezed in to the Oost list. The bright and open space has charming art on the walls that owner Imke scored from local Dutch Etsy artists.
