Go for lunch, snacks, drinks or dinner. You can dine in the airy restaurant with the beautiful light green ceiling surrounded by windows or go for the more casual space of the adjacent bar. The large restaurant is suitable for groups large and small.

The restaurant’s menu has something for everyone from simple sandwiches for lunch to lovely fish and poultry dishes at dinner. And don’t skip dessert!

The space has been beautifully refurbished (by the same designers who did the lovely Rijksmuseum Cafe), retaining the character of the historic buildings while giving an airy modern feel. The marble topped tables are luxurious and chic. I love the fresh light green color, which is the original paint shade from the 19th century. Sit on the terrace in the square or look out the big windows at the trees covered in twinkle lights and the misty fountain. How nice!

Cafe Restaurant Plantage is conveniently located next door to Artis zoo and Micropia and is close to the Hortus Botanicus, Hermitage and Tropenmuseum as well. And stay tuned, in a few years Artis will refurbish another historic building and open another museum on the square – the Groote Museum.
