Do you like to dine well at a good price and be surprised? Then Chef’s Podium is something for you! A rotating roster of chefs prepare different dishes every week based on what is available at the market.
CHEFS PODIUM • DINE ON SEASONAL INGREDIENTS
Dine out on seasonal dishes prepared by talented chefs for a reasonable price, what’s not to love about that? Each week a big box of fresh ingredients are purchased on Thursday and the chefs must develop a three course menu around the products.
Open Thursday through Saturday evenings, the chefs and menus are different each night. And next week the ingredients change. It makes for a fun and surprising dining experience and you will want to return again and again to taste what is new. If you are vegetarian or have food allergies, just let them know when you make your reservation. The price, at €20 for three courses and €15 for a bottle of wine, are so reasonable that your wallet can survive returning time and again, even if your waistline cannot!
We enjoyed the wintertime menu of so-called “forgotten vegetables” prepared by Chef Mehdi. Rutabaga, endive and white fish may not sound super exciting, but the chef created a very tasty three course menu from these ingredients. Before the meal the chefs describe the menu and the ingredients in each dish which adds a nice personal touch.
We especially loved the salad, prepared with thinly sliced rutabaga and lentils in a lemony tarragon vinaigrette. I could eat it every day! YUM!
The white fish was tender and topped with a flavorsome anchovy sauce paired with buttery rich vegetables. The final course was a small apple tart with caramel sauce. We wanted to lick the plate!
The wine is perfectly priced and delicious. We opted for the red, and you get a choice between a red or white wine that has been chosen by Paulo De Almeida of The Wine Spot to pair with the meal.
Chef’s Podium is housed in charming neighborhood cafe Rue de Sevres which closes at 6pm, providing the perfect location for dinner. Be sure to request a reservation in advance, this hot ticket is sure to fill up each weekend. Tasty, seasonal food and wine at a terrific price is not always easy to come by. And we love the element of surprise too.
Chef’s Podium has also popped up in Oost at Helena Primakoff at Lijndenstraat 28!
