This is one microbe you’ll want to infect you! Located in the refurbished A Lab building, The Coffee Virus serves delicious coffee and fantastic lunch as well as yummy cakes.

THE COFFEE VIRUS • DO YOU HAVE THE FEVER?

The Coffee Virus is housed in the ground floor of the new A Lab office building in Amsterdam Noord. The structure was previously home to the Shell Laboratory, but was subsequently abandoned and lay derelict for several years.

Now newly updated and refurbished, the office space is airy and light. The businesses located here are very lucky to have The Coffee Virus in their lobby to serve them lovely coffees and delicious lunches as their in-house kantine.

We happened upon this new cafe very hungry around lunch time and ordered their roasted vegetable sandwich. A large bread roll was smeared with creamy goat cheese and topped with roasted veggies and fresh arugula. A splash of chili oil added a spicy kick. For dessert we shared a slice of the carrot cake topped with sweet, rich frosting. Yummy!

When we went back we tried the pastrami sandwich. Roast beef topped with truffle mayo, cheese and arugula. Heaven.

Of course in addition to fresh salads and sandwiches, The Coffee Virus also serves expertly brewed coffee drinks. And homemade chai! Floris, one of the founders, used to work at Lola Bikes and Coffee – our favorite spot in Den Haag and well-known for excellent coffee. Both owners are super charming and friendly, the food is delicious and the space is cool and comfortable. The only complaint we have is that we don’t work at A Lab!

The Coffee Virus is currently open Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 17:00. Check it out next time you are in Amsterdam Noord!
