A secret escape located right near Central Station, Hanneke’s Boom has an awesome water view. Stop by this rustic hideaway for drinks or dinner in summer or winter.
HIDE AWAY AT HANNEKE’S BOOM
Located next to the Openbare Bibliotheek and across from NEMO is a cozy cafe with funky ambiance and a terrific water view.
Hanneke’s Boom was inspired by the original structure located in that spot in 1662, which was part of the system of guard posts monitoring ship traffic into the city of Amsterdam. Built with love out of salvaged and recycled materials, this relaxed cafe stands out from most Amsterdam venues for its arty homey vibe.
On those rare hot sunny days in the city, the huge terrace at Hanneke’s Boom is packed with all kinds of people soaking up the sun and enjoying a few beers.
There’s really nothing better than chilling with a beer at one of their large picnic tables on a warm summer evening and watching the boats go by. If you are lucky enough to have your own boat, pull up to Hanneke’s for a drink before returning to cruising Amsterdam’s waterways.
Hanneke’s Boom also charms in the winter with their cozy rustic interior. Grab a few bitterballen and curl up in comfy chairs by the crackling fireplace (so rare in Amsterdam!) for a nice chat with a friend.
Hannke’s Boom regularly hosts live music and performances especially on Sundays, follow them on Facebook to check the agenda.
