HPS: HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT

If you enjoy a carefully handcrafted cocktail in an elegant yet cozy environment, we have a tip for you. Tasty cocktails are Hiding in Plain Sight.

HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT • OUR FAVORITE COCKTAIL BAR IN AMSTERDAM

When it first opened this cocktail bar garnered raves from all sides so of course we had to visit and find out if this really is one of the best cocktail bars in Amsterdam. Indeed, we must agree.

HPS drink 1The first time we visited upon entering the charming space we were greeted by the handsome manager Jarl with three kisses like an old friend. He patiently explained the concept behind the venture, and got us really excited to try some of their cocktail creations. We started off with a passionfruit concoction and a strawberry fizz. Both were absolutely delicious, so of course we had to order some more.

HPS has plenty of seating in an intimate space with bar stools downstairs and sofas and comfy chairs upstairs. We love the curio cabinet tables and the bookcase with rainbow colored books. It seems like the perfect corner to cuddle up and sip a cocktail on a rainy night.

Husband and wife owners Guillermo Gonzalez and Vera Magagnini have done an amazing job with the decor and the concept at HPS. We really like the sparkling crystal glasses, the complimentary olives and nuts, and the attentive service with ever-flowing water.

They change the menu regularly. Each bartender (mixologist? cocktailista?) must come up with five new recipes each time. The staff tastes them and picks their favorites for the monthly menu. So there is always reason to return and try something new.

Check out HPS for your next date night, girls night out, or just a regular Wednesday. They are hiding in plain sight, but we bet you can find them!
