The beautiful canal house museum Geelvinck Hinlopen Huis consists of a gorgeous garden and four rooms on the first floor of the house. Each room is decorated in the typical style of the period.

The main house has now become an office and the coach house in the back has been converted into a lovely living space. The library and the blue room are two of the most interesting areas in the house. The blue room is home to several antique musical instruments including historic fortepianos. Friendly docents are on hand to tell visitors about the history of the house and its residents.
The gardens at Museum Geelvinck Hinlopen Huis are absolutely stunning! Symmetrical beds with exuberant flowers and herbs, a long pond with a feathery fountain and arches of cascading roses are just a few of its features. It is definitely one of the most beautiful gardens in Amsterdam, don’t miss it in spring and summer! You can visit the gardens as part of a walk through the museum or check them out during the Open Tuinen Dagen.
The museum regularly hosts special events and concerts. Check their agenda to see what’s on.
TOP TIP: If you plan to visit more than three museums within the year, we recommend the Museumkaart for locals. The price of €59 is worth it as entrance to each museum is around €15-20 for adults. If you are visiting Amsterdam take a look at the iAmsterdam card which gives you free transport around the city as well as free entry to many museums and attractions in Amsterdam and Haarlem. Check here for more information and to purchase the iAmsterdam card online. Another option is the Holland Pass which grants free access to several museums and attractions, as well as discounts to others. Check here for more information on the Holland Pass.
