The perfect place to do your weekly shopping, catch up with friends, people watch and perhaps even grab a bite to eat! Head to the Noordermarkt on Saturday.
The market takes place every Saturday year-round at the foot of the beautiful Noorderkerk along the Prinsengracht. Rain or shine you’ll find local shoppers buying their fruits, veggies, flowers and fish for the week. If the weather is at all decent, you’ll also see crowds of browsers, snackers and gawkers looking at the lovely wares for sale, and the cafes lining the market will be packed with coffee drinkers.
In the spring and summer months it is always a great way to start the day with shopping and people watching. In addition to organic fruits and veggies, you’ll also find prepared foods, meats, cheese, bread, skincare, books, clothing, vintage housewares, art and all kinds of other items for sale. If you head around the corner to the Lindengracht, you’ll find the non-organic market with even more stuff to purchase.
We love to visit with friends, do a bit of grocery shopping and then enjoy a bite to eat. Grab a seat at a local cafe like Winkel or Papeneiland, or just find something at the market to snack on. The offerings might change weekly but some of our favorites include oysters and prosecco and the amazing ice creams from De IJsmakerij.
