RADIJS • A PERFECT AMSTERDAM NEIGHBORHOOD CAFE
Here’s a recipe for the perfect lazy summer afternoon. Kick back on the canalside with a cold beer on a warm sunny day at Radijs in De Baarsjes. Order one of their creative sandwiches like the chicken with cheese and jalapenos, or perhaps a mackerel salad and nibble it as you watch the passing traffic on Jan Evertsenstraat. Order another beer and watch boats go under the bridge.
In the winter, get a cozy seat inside by the charming line drawing of -what else?- radishes. Try one of the burgers, either the veggie or beef and wash it down with a bottle of affordable red wine. Finish your meal with a homemade sundae with caramel and passionfruit sauce!
More and more friendly neighborhood spots with good drinks and food are popping up all the time in Oud West and De Baarsjes. But there can never be too many. Radijs is a perfect example, a relaxed place to get a nice meal and maybe a few drinks without too much fuss. Service is friendly and the other patrons are mellow.
Be sure to check it out next time you are nearby. Radijs is rad!
And don’t forget to check out Radijs’ younger sister up the street: Frits Burgers & Bier.
