Looking for something new to wear? Amsterdam has lots of shopping areas where you can find the fashions you seek!
SHOP ‘TIL YOU DROP • SHOPPING FOR CLOTHING IN AMSTERDAM
De Bijenkorf
You can always rely on De Bijenkorf, the swankiest department store in Amsterdam, for fashionable clothing for men, women and children. Located at Dam Square, this lovely shopping emporium stocks cosmetics, shoes, clothing, homewares…basically something for everyone! After you tire of browsing the racks, satisfy your hunger with the mouthwatering menu at the cafe on the top floor with terrific rooftop views. Or pop over to Terpentijn for a snack and a cocktail.

Dam 1, Amsterdam
Nieuwendijk & Kalverstraat
This long shopping street stretches from Central Station across Dam Square almost all the way to Rembrantplein. You’ll find lots of shops like H&M, Bershka, Forever 21, C&A, CoolCat, Urban Outfitters, Zara, New Yorker, and V&D. Be warned, though you may wander from one end to the other marveling at the seemingly endless selection of stores, the shops repeat themselves. (there might be 7 H&M stores along the whole stretch)
Don’t miss the smallish Kalvertoren shopping mall located at the end of the street near Rembrandtplein as well as the large V&D across the way.
Does shopping make you hungry and thirsty? There are many quick places to grab a bite along these streets, but we’d recommend taking a turn down the side streets for something special. Check out Gartine, De Laatste Kruimel, Vinnies and 5&33 or pop up to the rooftop of the W Hotel.
If shopping has got you needing a stiff drink grab a beer at In de Wildeman or a cocktail at Tales & Spirits.
For a nice dinner check out Wyers Restaurant at the De Witt Hotel.
De 9 Straatjes
A section near the Jordaan with lots of cute fashionable shops, de Negen Straatjes or “Nine Streets” area is a great place to shop for local and unique styles. This area is framed by three streets stretching from Prinsengracht to the Singel. Wander from shop to shop then stop to grab a coffee, juice or snack at one of the many charming cafes along the way. We like Dr Blend, Screaming Beans, JD Williams Whisky Bar, Pancakes!, Ree 7 and Pluk.
PC Hooftstraat & Van Baerlestraat
Located between Vondelpark and the Museumplein, PC Hooftstraat is the fanciest shopping street around, some call it the Rodeo Drive of Amsterdam. On this street you can find shops like Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Cartier, Hermès, Chanel and Louis Vuitton. Van Baerlestraat nearby also has upscale shopping like Pauw and Davidoff.
There are also many small boutiques located nearby in de Pijp.
If you didn’t drop all your cash at the swanky shops, go for a drink or a bite nearby at one of our favorite restaurants around Museumplein.
Leidsestraat
Beginning at the Leidseplein, the Leidsestraat has quite a few clothing and shoe shops along its length. You’ll find the ubiquitous H&M along with Replay, Jack & Jones, Sissy Boy and other stores. Have a coffee nearby at Bocca or Sweet Cup. Grab a snack or sit down for a meal at Ron Gastrobar Oriental, Nacional, Los Pilones, ’cause BEER loves FOOD, Greenwoods or Saigon Cafe.
Haarlemmerstraat
Close to Central Station is the charming Haarlemmerstraat and Haarlemmerdijk, where you can find unique clothing and accessories in the small shops along the street. Stop at Cafe Harlem to have their famous nachos, take a break for salad and sandwich at Vinnies or Stach, or drop into Toki for a coffee and sweet treat.
