Staring at Jacob is a charming brunch, bites and drinks spot in Oud West with yummy food and a great vibe.
STARING AT JACOB • BOOZY BRUNCH IN AMSTERDAM WEST
If you’re a brunch lover, head over to this hip canalside hotspot for a creative and filling meal. The menu changes regularly but steak and eggs, fluffy pancakes, chicken and waffles and creative eggs benedict are just some of the typical brunch options.

Creative take on eggs benedict with kimchi on bao buns. Yum!
A variety of fun wake-up cocktails can be imbibed along with your meal, as should be at any respectable brunch restaurant. Go for a classic like a mimosa, bloody mary or screwdriver or wash brunch down with wine or beer. Their beer selection often features brews from several of our favorite local microbreweries like Mannenliefde from Oedipus and Green Cap from Butcher’s Tears.
The decor is relaxed but cozy with lots of plants, soft blue accent walls, fanciful wallpaper behind the bar and hanging tungsten lights. The menu is written on a chalkboard wall at the back of the restaurant.

It can get busy on the weekends at Staring at Jacob.
Brought to you by the guys from Restaurant Fraîche, Cut Throat, and newcomer Eastside, Staring at Jacob is a popular place. They don’t take reservations on the weekend so you might have a short wait for a table at brunch times. Staring at Jacob is open in the evening on Saturday and Sunday so don’t forget drop in for bites and drinks in the late afternoon as well.
Have you noticed the reason behind the cafe’s name already?
