THE OTHERIST

THE OTHERIST - Amsterdam Shopping for Unique Items for yourself or gifts

An eye-catching and unique shop in the center of the city, The Otherist stocks an interesting collection of curiosities as well as fashionable items for you and your home.

The location of The Otherist could not be more picturesque: canalside on the Leliegracht shaded by leafy trees in the summertime.

Walking or cycling past you can’t help but notice the intriguing sign and logo with curling octopus tentacles. Looking further into the shop window you might see a beautiful antique globe, interesting paintings, porcelain skulls, and delicate jewelry.

Step inside and check out the fascinating glass eyeballs and the antique keys, collected, as their website says, “from various homes, castles, secret laboratories and dungeons across Europe”. The keys that is, not the eyeballs.

This shop is full of mystery and wonder like the cabinet of curiosities of old, yet is still clean and bright and happy.

In addition to these treasures you will also find practical items like Billykirk canvas bags and hand painted ceramics. We covet the lovely jewelry in the form of birds, bows and branches.

The Otherist was one of the first shops of its kind in Amsterdam, before the influx of hipster style stores selling similar wares. We do love them all but The Otherist is definitely a special place not to be missed!

Next time you are wandering the romantic streets of Amsterdam be sure to stop in and be amazed. Or just take a look at their website and shop online from the comfort of your sofa!
